Poolside Patio with Waterfall

There’s a great story behind this poolside patio, which is truly one of our Signature Projects! In 2013, we built a small concrete paver walkway and patio with a gas fire pit adjacent to Jeff and Pam’s deck. During that patio design process, the client requested that we frame an entrance to the back yard with pillars, “Just in case I ever build a pool, but I won’t build a pool.”

Five years later, we were designing a gorgeous pool area for the same client! There were several challenges to be met on this project, including some elevation changes and incorporating stormwater management.

This poolside patio is filled with special features. A stainless steel spa provides a place to relax during the cooler months, and a gas heater allows quick heat up. Wide natural stone coping conceals the vault around the spa, and provides an additional seating area. A fire boulder with Adirondack chairs provides a space for late night conversations, or for adults to relax on a cool evening while children continue to swim.

The crowning feature is the massive waterfall cascading into the pool. Urns provide additional interest and vertical elements, as well as housing gas burners. A large stone slab provides a natural bridge over the stream. Lighting is included throughout the project to ensure that this amazing outdoor living area can be enjoyed long after dusk!

We were able to use the same wall block as was used in the original patio to provide continuity between the two phases. Better yet, we were able to perfectly match the pattern from the original pillars to the new pillars framing the entrance to the pool patio. Thanks, Jeff and Pam, for choosing us to create this dream space in your backyard!

Fun facts: All stormwater from the pool, patio, and pool house are all stored in the patio base!
