Over time brick patios and driveways become dirty and dull; cleaning the pavers, refiling the joints with sand, and sealing will restore much of the beauty that you enjoyed when it was new!
PATIO PAVER CLEANING AND SEALING
There are multiple steps in cleaning and sealing a patio. Stains such as rust or rust are spot treated with specialty cleaners. The entire patio is cleaned with a mild acid called efflorescence remover. This removes any efflorescence (a white film from calcium deposits) as well as any dust and dirt. It also prepares the surface of the pavers for proper sealer adhesion. If the dirt and stains are not first removed properly, the patio sealer will seal the dirt in with the paver. The dirt and stains are permanently sealed, and the sealer may discolor or delaminate since it cannot properly bond to the paver surface.
When the cleaning is completed, we are ready to apply new paver sealant to the patio. We use several lines of sealers, dependent on the application and the goals. Both water and solvent based sealers are available. Finishes vary from natural, which changes the appearance of the pavers very little, to wet look, which greatly enhances the colors.
