Jeremy founded Willow Gates Landscaping, in 2005. However his passion for landscape Design began many years earlier. Jeremy grew up working with his mother in her small nursery where he learned about rare and unique plants that are seldom found in typical landscapes. After he received his driver's license, he spent a year and a half working on a crew that maintained four family estates in the Reading area.
In 2002, Jeremy took a job as Landscaper in Lancaster PA at Sauder's Nursery and spent three seasons learning more about commercial landscaping and greatly broadening his knowledge of trees and shrubs. In 2005, he was offered the opportunity to purchase the landscaping division at Sauder's and after much debate, seized the opportunity, forming a partnership with his brother. His brother left the company in 2011 to pursue his dream of building a family dairy farm.
Jeremy focused primarily on landscape services including design, installation and maintenance in the beginning, but soon expanded the business to include hardscape patio and retaining wall installation. In the years that followed, Jeremy invested in installation training and certification from the Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute (ICPI) and the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA). He also became a certified Techo-Bloc installer.
He has a passion for the industry, and became an ICPI instructor for the Certified Concrete Paver Installer and Advanced Residential Paver Technician courses. He is also an authorized instructor for the NCMA SRW Basic Installer Course. He appreciates the opportunity to give back to the hardscape industry and pass on some of his experience to other hardscape contractors. Some of his favorite landscape projects have involved creative stormwater management, outdoor kitchen designs, fire features, and anything that involves innovation in design or in technology! He loves taking a clients landscaping and hardscaping ideas and bringing them to life.
Jeremy spent two years researching methods of controlling silica dust from cutting concrete and stone products. After researching systems currently on the market didn’t meet the needs of Willow Gates, he began developing his own systems. He has launched Dust Killer Tools and also teaches a 2 hour course for contractors seeking to work dust free. While the impetus was the OSHA Respirable Silica Rule, his crew has appreciated no longer working in a cloud of dust!
While he says he has no time for hobbies, he’s always up for a discussion on diesel trucks or classic muscle cars! He makes his home in rural Berks County with his wife, 5 children, and a menagerie of cats, dogs, and rabbits.
Tyler joined Willow Gates in 2018, working part-time while still in school. Since he’s graduated, he’s been working full time and learning the trade! He is particularly interested in our hardscape projects.
He enjoys fishing, Ford trucks, and Cabela’s. His favorite projects are those that transform a back yard into an outdoor living area.
From the owner:
Tyler’s sense of humor has been an asset to our crew...and a business trip just wouldn’t be the same without him. And if a trip involves a late-night stop at Cabela’s, we’re sure to be entertained! Tyler has been a welcome addition to the crew, and helps keep up the morale.
Josh joined Willow Gates in 2017 and spent 3.5 years on the crew. He was a great hardscape foreman, but moved with his wife to Canada to be near her family. He still does some video editing for us!
From the owner:
Josh has progressed tremendously in the short time he’s been part of our crew! He’s been a great addition to the crew, and his dedication and willingness to work late when needed has been much appreciated. He has been a quick learner both in the field and in the classroom, passing his NCMA and ICPI exams with flying colors.
Trenton joined Willow Gates spring 2018, and has quickly become a solid member of the team! His hobbies include volleyball and tractor pulls. He enjoys watching our clients’ back yards transform from an ordinary back yard into something that’s truly unique!
From the owner:
Besides possessing a solid work ethic, Trenton is always thinking about the next step that needs to be taken. He has become a team member in every sense of the word! We’ve appreciated his willingness to go the extra mile, working late or helping out on a Saturday when needed.
Jason joined our crew early 2019, and is our landscape foreman. His main hobbies generally include anything with a motor… but specifically trucks! Especially EcoBoosted Fords!
From the owner:
In addition to experience in landscaping, Jason brings a great sense of humor to the crew. While his focus is on landscaping, he is always game to try something new. He is also willing to work late to finish up a project, load for the next day, or repair some equipment so it can roll the next day.
