Jeremy founded Willow Gates Landscaping, in 2005. However his passion for landscape Design began many years earlier. Jeremy grew up working with his mother in her small nursery where he learned about rare and unique plants that are seldom found in typical landscapes. After he received his driver's license, he spent a year and a half working on a crew that maintained four family estates in the Reading area.
In 2002, Jeremy took a job as Landscaper in Lancaster PA at Sauder's Nursery and spent three seasons learning more about commercial landscaping and greatly broadening his knowledge of trees and shrubs. In 2005, he was offered the opportunity to purchase the landscaping division at Sauder's and after much debate, seized the opportunity, forming a partnership with his brother. His brother left the company in 2011 to pursue his dream of building a family dairy farm.
Jeremy focused primarily on landscape services including design, installation and maintenance in the beginning, but soon expanded the business to include hardscape patio and retaining wall installation. In the years that followed, Jeremy invested in installation training and certification from the Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute (ICPI) and the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA). He also became a certified Techo-Bloc installer.
He has a passion for the industry, and became an ICPI instructor for the Certified Concrete Paver Installer and Advanced Residential Paver Technician courses. He is also an authorized instructor for the NCMA SRW Basic Installer Course. He appreciates the opportunity to give back to the hardscape industry and pass on some of his experience to other hardscape contractors. Some of his favorite landscape projects have involved creative stormwater management, fire features, and anything that involves innovation in design or in technology! He loves taking a clients landscaping and hardscaping ideas and bringing them to life.
While he says he has no time for hobbies, he’s always up for a discussion on diesel trucks or classic muscle cars! He makes his home in rural Berks County with his wife, 5 children, and a menagerie of cats, dogs, and rabbits.
Tyler joined Willow Gates in 2018, working part-time while still in school. Since he’s graduated, he’s now working full time and learning everything he can about landscaping in general, and hardscape in particular!
Josh joined Willow Gates in 2017. While his primary focus was learning the hardscape trade, he quickly proved to be excellent in the landscape work as well! His hobbies include hunting and playing volleyball. He has also passed the NCMA SRW Basic Installer exam as well as the ICPI Concrete Paver Installer.
From the owner:
Josh has progressed tremendously in the short time he’s been part of our crew! He’s been a great addition to the crew, and his dedication and willingness to work late when needed has been much appreciated. He has been a quick learner both in the field and in the classroom, passing his NCMA and ICPI exams with flying colors.
